Dr Giancarlo Biagini is a Senior Lecturer at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine

The Biagini and Ward laboratories are sited in the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, which has a strong research community working on Tropical Diseases, particularly TB (The Liverpool TB group) and malaria. The work at LSTM will be performed in the recently opened £24 million Centre for Tropical and Infectious Diseases (CTID) building housing the largest Cat III laboratory area in the North West of U.K. In addition to extensive laboratory resources, the School of Tropical Medicine offers a holistic research environment, with active programmes in therapeutic development and design through to clinical trials and health effectiveness programmes. The resources and facilities to conduct all aspects of regulatory pre-clinical pharmacology and toxicology are available and in routine use in the School. A close partnership exists with the Liverpool Wellcome Trust Centre for Research in Clinical Tropical Medicine, through which active research links are maintained with other research Programmes, particularly in Kenya and Malawi.
